Yoga Retreat & Shala Etiquette

Writer: Yoga RoseYoga Rose

Many of you will be looking forward to going to Purple Valley, Tenerife later this month. Some of you will have been before and know what to expect but for others, this may be the very first visit.

The shala accommodates 16-20 students comfortably and as this retreat is fully booked, the class will be split into 2 sessions.

Arrive just before your session starts and wait to be invited in. Students should observe 'the noble silence' which will be referred to in the FAQs guide to services email from Purple Valley.

You are encouraged to maintain silence as you enter the shala and there should be no conversation unless you need to speak to the teacher. Please be considerate of other students who are still practicing as you enter or leave.

Of course, this is normal etiquette at any Mysore style class, and should be practiced whether or not you are attending a retreat, event or usual classes.

There will be plenty of opportunities to socialise at the absolutely delicious brunch and dinner times.
